Factoring rankings are usually written for fleets and read by owner-operators. This one is judged at your volume: one truck, eight to twelve loads a month, no back office, and a fuel tank that does not care that the broker pays in 38 days. At that scale, the best factoring company is not the one with the lowest sticker rate. It is the one whose contract, cutoffs, and fuel card fit a business where you are the driver, the dispatcher, and the accounting department.
Four things, in order. No monthly minimums, because a slow month or a home-time week cannot trigger a penalty. Month-to-month terms, because a one-truck business needs the freedom to change course without a termination fee. Real fuel offsets, because at 1,200 gallons a month the fuel card can quietly refund most of your factoring fee. And an app that works from the sleeper, because your office has a steering wheel in it.
Notice what is not on the list: the advertised rate. At $25,000 a month, the difference between 3 percent and 3.5 percent is $125. The difference between a clean exit and a 12-month contract with a deposit is measured in thousands. Weight accordingly.
Every company ranked here approves single-truck carriers, and OTR, Bobtail, and Apex all approve brand-new authorities with no operating history required.
1. OTR Solutions (9.9/10). The whole package fits one truck: month-to-month, no minimums, True Non-Recourse so one dead broker cannot wreck you, BOLT instant funding that pays nights and weekends, and a fuel card averaging $0.51 a gallon. The full review does the math.
2. Bobtail (9.5/10). The transparency pick: a published flat fee around 3.25 percent, 100 percent advance with no reserve, no minimums, and a 90-day risk-free cancel. You can compute your exact cost before you ever call, which no quote-based factor lets you do. Support in English, Spanish, and Punjabi.
3. Apex Capital (8.7/10). The service pick: named reps who stay on your account for years, a 4.8 Trustpilot score, month-to-month terms, and the TCS fuel card at about $0.47 a gallon. The 80 to 90 percent advance means more of your money arrives later, which lean one-truck operations should price honestly.
Approach with your eyes open: RTS Financial's fuel network is excellent, but a $1,000 deposit, monthly minimums, and a 12-month auto-renewing term are fleet terms, and you are not a fleet. The full rankings compare all seven companies line by line.

Get two quotes in the same week and tell each company about the other. Same-week quotes are the only honest comparison, and competition is your only leverage before you have volume history.
Here is the arithmetic that changes the whole comparison. A solo truck burning 1,200 gallons a month with a card averaging $0.50 a gallon gets about $600 a month back. If your factoring fee at $25,000 volume is roughly $750 to $875, the card just refunded 70 to 80 percent of it.
That means the real cost of factoring for a fuel-card-disciplined owner-operator is often under one percent of revenue, not the 3-something on the rate sheet. It also means a factor with a strong card and a middling rate routinely beats a factor with a sharp rate and no card. Run your own gallons through our calculator alongside the quotes.
Minimum volume clauses are the quiet owner-operator killer: a slow month or a week of home time can trigger fees on freight you never hauled.
Minimums. A monthly minimum is a bet that you will never take a week off, never have a slow month, never get sick. One truck should never take that bet.
Deposits and long terms. A $1,000 deposit plus a 12-month auto-renewing contract is leverage pointed at the party with the least leverage: you. Our contract red-flags guide lists every clause to read twice.
Factoring your fast payers. If a shipper pays you reliably in 7 days, factoring that invoice is a fee for nothing. Companies with per-invoice selectivity (Bobtail, HaulPay) let you factor the slow money and keep the fast money whole.
Route your fueling around your card's network for one month and then check the math: at one truck, the fuel discount often covers most of the factoring fee, but only if you actually fuel where the discount lives.
Any carrier who wants delivered loads turned into same-day cash is a fit for factoring; at one-truck volume the winners are the companies whose terms assume you are human. OTR Solutions is the strongest overall package, Bobtail is the price you can verify, and Apex is the service you can name. Start with the full rankings, get two quotes the same week, and let the fuel math break the tie.
Typically 2.5 to 3.5 percent per invoice at single-truck volume: $750 to $875 a month at $25,000 factored. A strong fuel card claws back around $600 of that, which is why the all-in math matters more than the sticker rate.
OTR Solutions tops our 2026 rankings for owner-operators: month-to-month, no minimums, true no-chargeback protection, 24/7 instant funding, and a $0.51 average fuel discount.
Spot-market owner-operators should price non-recourse seriously: one failed $5,000 invoice is three-plus years of the premium. See our best non-recourse companies breakdown.
Yes. Every company on this page factors single-truck operations, and several approve new authorities on day one with no operating history.
Not everywhere. Bobtail and HaulPay allow per-broker or per-invoice selectivity, so you can factor slow payers and skip customers who already pay fast.
Your factor sees every invoice you run, which means a good account manager at one truck is effectively a free back office. Use them for broker checks, paperwork questions, and rate-con problems; that service is priced into your fee either way.
One truck does not need the cheapest factor. It needs the one that assumes you are human.
